Registered Nutritional Therapist
After 18 years in sales and marketing roles at major companies, Jo Scott-Dalgleish decided to make her passion for nutrition and fitness her career. Studying full time at the Centre for Nutrition Education and Lifestyle Management for three years, she achieved a first class degree in Nutritional Therapy, validated by Middlesex University, and started a private nutrition practice, based in Chiswick, West London.
Since starting in practice, Jo has further developed her interest in sports nutrition, undertaking the CNELM course, “Person-Centred Sports Nutrition”, which enables her to work with sports participants on a one to one basis, aiming both to improve the individual’s sports performance and to support their health. The approach Jo uses is known as Functional Sports Nutrition, combining traditional sports nutrition with the principles of nutritional therapy to meet each client’s individual goals.
Jo specialises in nutrition for endurance sports participants. She keeps herself up to date with the latest scientific research on endurance sports nutrition and attends regular professional development seminars and conferences on both sports nutrition and nutritional therapy.
Jo is an occasional contributor to 220 Triathlon magazine, answering questions from readers on nutrition, and a former contributor to Women's Running Magazine. She has also been featured in Men's Fitness, Men's Health, Women's Fitness, Runners World and Running Fitness magazines.
Jo has successfully worked with triathletes, from novices to Ironman, marathon runners, ultra-runners, endurance cyclists and openwater swimmers. After a childhood spent swimming competitively and 15 years of running, she finally bought her first road bike, doing her first triathlon in 2013, and starting to train twice a day so understands the challenges of balancing training with work and family life. After a very busy five years in triathlon, she has now started to focus more on cycling events.
Jo is a full member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT), holds the certificate of competence issued by the Nutritional Therapy Council (NTCC), and is registered with the government-supported voluntary regulatory body, The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
